BOSTON The Boston University medical student accused of slaying a 25-year-old masseuse he met on Craigslist owes more than $130,000 in student loans and cannot afford an attorney.
A preliminary match has been made between bullets used to kill New York City masseuse Julissa Brisman and a gun found in the home of the accused "Craigslist Killer," police sources told the Boston Herald.
Boston authorities are hoping that an ad they placed on Craigslist will lead them to information on other potential victims of the "Craigslist Killer," who chose his targets using the popular classifieds Web site.
Investigators are reaching out through cyberspace to try to find other women who may have been victimized by Philip Markoff, turning to the same website he allegedly used: Craigslist.
Philip Markoff, the alleged "Craigslist killer," has been placed on suicide watch at the Suffolk County jail in Boston after a correction officer saw marks on his neck that suggested he had tried to use shoelaces to hang himself.
