April 27 (Bloomberg) -- Sri Lanka rejected a cease-firecall by Tamil Tiger rebels as a “joke” as a Tamil group saidthe army must stop killing civilians trapped in the last rebel-held territory in the north.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam must surrender andallow civilians to leave the conflict zone, Defense SecretaryGotabhaya Rajapaksa said yesterday, according to a statement onthe government’s Web site.
