A Moscow police chief opened fire on the street and in a supermarket today,killing three people and wounding seven others, four of them critically,Russian investigators said.
Police Major Denis Yevsyukov, who heads a southern Moscow police department,killed a driver, a supermarket cashier and customer when he started shootingjust after midnight, federal investigators said in a statement.
The incident began when Major Yevsyukov, whose wife had recently left him,finished his late shift and hitched a ride to the supermarket, VladimirPronin, the head of the Moscow police, told Russian television.
