The United Auto Workers union has agreed to a deal with Chrysler LLC, Fiat SpA and the U.S. Treasury Department for concessions that will help the automaker meet requirements of the government’s bailout loans to the company.
The UAW announced the breakthrough in talks Sunday evening, saying that the union was taking advantage of the “second chance” President Barack Obama gave workers and the company after Obama rejected Chrysler’s viability plan Feb. 17.
