BIOTECH STOCKS Dendreon shines as drug stocks climb

BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Dendreon Corp. led drug stocks higher in afternoon trading Wednesday as shares of the biotech group rocketed on results from a positive study for its prostate cancer therapy Provenge.

The Amex Pharmaceutical Index was up 1.2% to 237.63 and the Amex Biotechnology Index climbed 2.9% to 654.61. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (XX:DJII: news , chart , profile ) advanced almost 200 points to 8,214.
