Alligator Alley closes once again due to smoke, fog

Alligator Alley will be closed during the wee hours of Monday morning because of expected ''extreme smoke and fog conditions,'' the Florida Highway Patrol said late Sunday.

At 1 a.m. Monday, westbound lanes of Alligator Alley, also known as Interstate 75, will be closed at U.S. 27 in Broward. Going east, lanes will be closed at mile marker 101 in Collier County, FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky said.

The Alley will remained closed until there is sufficient visibility for safe driving, Wysocky said.
