The owners of Mine That Bird targeted the Lone Star Derby this Saturday in Texas before Churchill Downs officials told them their horse had enough graded-stakes earnings to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. That prompted another call, from Mark Allen to co-owner Leonard Blach.
