A Winthrop man will be arraigned on a hate crime charge tomorrow stemming from accusations that he assaulted a woman while yelling disparaging remarks against gays outside a Provincetown cafe over the weekend.
Police say Eric L. Patten, 20, was intoxicated when he mistook two women as gay men while they stood outside the Post Office Cafe & Cabaret at 303 Commercial St. shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. Patten yelled derogatory names for gays at them and then approached them, police said.
