The first sound on Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King (* * * 1/2 out of four) comes from the GrooGrux King himself, saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who died last year while the album was still in its earliest stages. That brief, improvised section is one of the few spots on the album attributable to Moore - Flecktones wind man Jeff Coffin finished the recording and now tours with Matthews - but his spirit permeates the set.
