One person is dead and another wounded in a shooting outside a South Side high school Friday afternoon, according to the fire department.

The shooting happened outside the school at 4934 S. Wabash Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor who said one person was dead and another was transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition.

MacGregor said they responded at 12:21 p.m. and he did not know if the victims were students.
