Hazel Blears regrets 'thoughtless and cruel' Gordon Brown comments

Miss Blears launched a stinging criticism of the Prime Minister's appearance on the video sharing website YouTube in which he outlined reforms to the Commons expenses system.

Speaking for the first time since she quit the cabinet, she said of her jibe "YouTube if you want to" that she "thought it was clever, it was too clever by half."

She insisted she did not mean to sabotage the Prime Minister's desperate fight to stay in office and apologised for resigning on the eve of last week's local and European elections.
