Games are serious business on the Internet — and getting more so. And as the niche flourishes amid the recession, the startup Playdom on Thursday announced the hiring of high-ranking Electronic Arts executive John Pleasants to become its CEO and guide the company's growth.
Meanwhile, EA announced that John Schappert, an EA veteran who had been involved in signature titles like Madden NFL, will return to succeed Pleasants as chief operating officer effective July 14. Schappert had left EA in 2007 for an executive role at Microsoft overseeing interactive entertain, including Xbox Live.
