DETROIT - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agentshave helped round up 36 members of violent street gangs insouthwest Detroit.

ICE officials said Friday seven of those arrested were non-U.S.citizens, including six from Mexico and one from El Salvador.

The arrests are part of a nationwide crackdown on violent streetgangs called Operation Community Shield, in which ICE agents workwith state and local police agencies.
