A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a four-year-old girl was found dead, police said today.
Officers found the child's body at a house in Bideford Close, Newport, south Wales, Gwent Police said.
A 34-year-old woman was also found at the house with serious injuries.
A police spokeswoman said: "The female adult has been taken to Royal Gwent Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. She has been arrested on suspicion of murder."
