MONROVIA, Calif. -- AeroVironment Inc., which makes unmanned aircraft, said Tuesday that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit fell 9 percent on higher cost of sales and research and development expenses, but still beat Wall Street expectations.

For the three months ended April 30, profit fell to $5.8 million, or 27 cents per share, from $6.4 million, or 30 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose 18 percent to $76 million from $64.3 million.
