WASHINGTON - A Metro train operator is being hailed as a hero by her boss. Investigators think 42-year-old Jeanice McMillan of Springfield pushed an emergency brake to try to prevent this week's crash on the Red Line that claimed her life and eight others.
"She took an act that I believe, in my judgment, that ultimately will determine that she saved lives," said Metro General Manager John Catoe at a packed memorial service Friday at the Temple of Praise Church in Southeast.
