NEW YORK (WPIX) - The legendary Apollo Theater honored fallen icon Michael Jackson on Tuesday afternoon with a special series of events commemorating his life.

"I wish he was alive to see the love in the crowd that got together and united," one adoring fan told PIX News. "It's a sad day but it's also a good day...I wish the best for his family."

The Apollo hosted a public tribute allowing fans to hear DJs spinning Michael's music, leave memorabilia, and write sympathy messages on a special mural wall located outside the property.
