OXFORD - After escaping its aquarium, an 8 1/2-foot pet python slithered into the room of a 2-year-old girl, wrapped itself around the toddler and suffocated her.
The snake's owner told authorities he grabbed a knife and stabbed the albino Burmese python until it loosed its crushing grip on Shaiunna Hare.
The child was dead when deputies arrived about 10 a.m. today.
Officials say it's the first documented python attack on a human in Florida.
