Michael Jackson's 7-year-old will, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, leaves unanswered questions because it puts assets into his private family trust.
Though the primary beneficiaries are made public, the percentages and details of what they receive remain private, says Ed McCaffery, an estate and tax lawyer and law professor at the University of Southern California.
The will, dated July 7, 2002, names Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, as a beneficiary of the trust and the guardian of Jackson's three children, who are also named as beneficiaries of the trust.
