PC Davies has handled many police dogs, including one named Prince

Nottinghamshire Police have spoken of their dog section's devastation, after two German Shepherds died after being left in a hot car.

Here, a serving police dog handler speaks of the strong bond officers develop with their canine charges.

"When you see a police dog taking down a criminal suspect, or sniffing out narcotics, all they really want is their ball."
