The supersonic jets flew over the Esplanade at 8:30 last night. The “God Bless the Troops” signs were raised along the packed-to-the-gills banks of the Charles. Conductor Keith Lockhart led the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra through “The Star-Spangled Banner.” A group called Syncopation delivered a melodramatic version of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” And, finally, the “1812 Overture” concluded the first part of the big July Fourth show.
