Among the many stars expected to attend Michael Jackson’s memorial at the Staples Center tomorrow morning, one prominent figure in the pop star’s life will be absent: Dame Elizabeth Taylor.

“I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center,” Taylor wrote on her Twitter. “I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word.”

Though debunking recent tabloid reports she was on suicide watch after hearing news of Jackson’s untimely death, Dame Elizabeth appears to not be ready to handle the emotional farewell event in Los Angeles.
