The teacher accused of trying to kill a 14-year-old schoolboy appeared in court yesterday - with the public gallery full of supportive ex-pupils.
Peter Harvey, 49, allegedly "lost control" and attacked Jack Waterhouse with a 2kg metal weight during a physics lesson, fracturing his skull.
As the charge of attempted murder was read out by magistrates in Mansfield, Notts, Harvey, wearing a T-shirt and jogging pants, appeared calm.
