Sectarian rioting erupted in north Belfast tonight in opposition to an Orange Order parade passing through the area. Disturbances broke out at the Ardoyne shops, a notorious flashpoint.
The trouble started just before the return of north Belfast Orangemen from the annual 12 July parade through the city. Petrol bombs, fireworks, bricks and bottles were hurled by youths from the republican Ardoyne area at police lines from about 6.30pm.
