WASHINGTON — A landmark health care bill crafted by House Democratic leaders underscores the challenges lawmakers in Congress continue to face as they race to finish work on President Obama's top domestic priority by the end of the year.
After months of negotiations, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., unveiled legislation that by 2019 would provide insurance to 36 million Americans who wouldn't otherwise have it. Obama praised the measure as a "critical milestone" in his effort to revamp the nation's health care system.
