Disgraced financier and convicted felon Bernie Madoff now calls the Triangle home.
The 71-year-old reported Tuesday to the federal prison in Bunter, a Granville County town less than 15 miles northeast of Durham and about 20 miles north of Raleigh.
Madoff was arrested in December on charges that he bilked investors out of million of dollars in an elaborate Ponzi scheme that he had operated over several years. He plead guilty in March and was subsequently sentenced to 150 years in prison.
