TURNBERRY, Scotland - Steve Marino played his first two British Open rounds in hand-me-down clothes and with a week’s worth of stubble on his face - and was tied with Tom Watson for the lead Friday night.
Whether he was prompted by a phone call from his mother or by reading Dan Jenkins’ Golf Digest Twitter post that he looked as if he’d just escaped from prison that morning, Marino reported for duty yesterday freshly scrubbed and shaved and looking like Beaver Cleaver dressed in golf clothes.
