The sole surviving suspect from last years attacks on Mumbai has admitted his role in the three-day rampage that killed 166 people and heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

It was not immediately clear what prompted Kasab, a Pakistani national, to do so.

Over the past several months, Kasab, who is currently lodged in a Mumbai jail and is facing trial, had consistently denied that he was guilty of the charges, which include murder and waging war on India.
