Intel Corp. is appealing the record-setting antitrust fine that the European Union levied in May, saying that the fine violated the company's human rights, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The EU hit Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) with a fine of 1.06 billion Euros, about $1.5 billion, for offering rebates to computer-makers who chose Santa Clara-based Intel’s chips over those made by Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD), which is based out of Sunnyvale. The fine was the largest levied in a monopoly-abuse case.
