WHITE PLAINS — Bernard B. Kerik, the former New York City former police commissioner, was transferred out of a special mental health unit in a Westchester County jail on Monday after psychiatric officials determined that he was psychologically stable.
Judge Stephen C. Robinson said in court that he had received a letter from Robert Mahler, the psychiatry chief at Westchester County jail in Valhalla, stating that Mr. Kerik had voluntarily checked into the jail's medical unit 10 days ago and that he had been moved from it on Monday morning.
