"Disney's A Christmas Carol" is a fine film for families in need of a few hours of peace and joy during the holidays.
"Christmas Carol" aficionados, a much pickier lot, will be asking more from this adaptation. You won't find the DVD of this movie on their holiday lists.
Disney wanted a vehicle for showing off the latest in 3D technology, called Disney Digital 3D, combined with performance capture technology. The results are impressive. Instead of adding depth to the scene (think "Coraline" and "Bolt"), this 3D system pushes the action into the auditorium for a "you are there" feeling. (The movie will play in regular 2D in some theaters).
