TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Attorney General Bill McCollum wants Florida lawmakers to make it tougher for former felons to get occupational and professional licenses.
McCollum on Tuesday urged the Legislature to repeal a law that requires the state to grant licenses to ex-convicts who've had their civil rights restored unless their crimes were directly related to those jobs.
Other officials also offered suggestions for closing loopholes in background checks for licenses to work with children, seniors and disabled people.
