Voters trickled into New Jersey polls Tuesday to choose a governor at the end of a cantankerous campaign season that is being viewed by some as a test of how well voters think an ally of President Barack Obama has handled the recession.
State officials reported that turnout was steady but light in the race between Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine and Republican challenger Chris Christie. Independent Chris Daggett also has been showing support in polls, though his percentage of votes is likely to end up in the single digits.
