NEW YORK -- As city residents cast ballots for mayor Tuesday, conversation at the polls often focused on the change in New York's term-limits law that allowed Michael R. Bloomberg to run for a third term, and whether that trumped his accomplishments in office.
"The main thing is to get Bloomberg out," said Véronique Doumbé, 52, a filmmaker from West Africa, speaking at an East Village polling place. "I'm coming from a country where the president never wants to leave. Term limits are essential for a democracy."
