WASHINGTON — A wildly unpredictable race for a House seat in Upstate New York gave conservatives across the country a reason to cheer - and look forward to the 2010 midterm election - even before polls closed Tuesday.
The battle for the 23rd Congressional District, which took a dramatic turn over the weekend when the Republican candidate abruptly quit amid questions over her conservative credentials, could change the dynamic in dozens of races next year, said Matt Kibbe of the conservative advocacy group FreedomWorks.
