Time to decide: Voters across Houston head to polls

Today's election ballot is loaded with critical questions: Who will be Houston's next mayor? Is a constitutional amendment warranted to guarantee public access to Texas beaches? Should state money be used to create more Tier 1 universities?

But despite the weightiness of issues, area voters - at least initially - responded with a big ho-hum.

Blessed with a optimum election day weather, voters trickled to the polls - a possible confirmation of pundits' predictions that only 25 percent of registered voters would turn out for the off-year election.
