Australia Sets Up Commission to Investigate Timor Sea Oil Spill

Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Australia has set up a commissionof inquiry into an oil spill in the Timor Sea off northwesternAustralia that spewed as much as 400 barrels a day for more than 10 weeks.

David Borthwick, a former Secretary of the Department ofthe Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, will run theinvestigation, Energy Minister Martin Ferguson said inCanberra today. Borthwick, who will have the power to summonwitnesses and evidence, must report by the end of April.
