SAN FRANCISCO — Cisco Systems, the world's largest maker of computer-networking gear, on Wednesday said its first-quarter earnings sank, but profit beat Wall Street expectations, and the tech giant said it is starting to rebound.
The results offer fresh evidence that the tech sector may finally be emerging from an economic downturn that depressed sales the past year and caused many firms - including Cisco (CSCO)- to shed thousands of jobs.
