Obama calls for new relationship with Iran

US President Barack Obama has called for establishing new ties between Iran and the US, saying that his country wants to "move beyond the past" tensions with Iran.

Obama issued a statement on Wednesday that marked the 30th anniversary of the takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran.

Revolutionary Iranian students held 52 Americans for 444 days, after it was revealed that the embassy has been engaged in espionage in the country.
