NEW YORK — In some ways, the first World Series at the new Yankee Stadium is a repeat of the 1923 Series, the first played across the street in the original grand palace.
The Yankees came into the series with the best record in baseball. They were playing in a new ballpark, which was the biggest in the land and nicknamed The House That Ruth Built. Ruth was trying to shake off a reputation that he couldn't hit in the World Series.
