EVERATT, Wash.—Sports apparel and equipment retailer Zumiez Inc. on Wednesday said sales at stores open at least a year fell 8.9 percent in October.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters forecast sales to drop 6.7 percent for the month.
The figure is a key indicator of a retailers' health, because it measures growth at existing stores, rather than from expansion.
Footwear was the only department that showed an increase, the company said in a recorded message.
