David Cameron faces further unrest over new EU policy

Roger Helmer, the Tory employment spokesman in Brussels, said he could “neither justify nor support” the plans which Mr Cameron set out on Wednesday.

Mr Cameron's policies have also come under fire from a French minister, Pierre Lellouche who described a pledge to reclaim EU powers as "pathetic and autistic".

The Conservative leader has been forced to rule out a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty after it was formally ratified by the Czech Republic – the last remaining obstacle to it passing into law.
