As an actress-comedienne, Mo'Nique makes audiences roar with laughter in concert, on TV and in movies. But her latest picture is bound to spark a different sort of intense emotional response.
The 41-year-old Baltimore native portrays the abusive mother of an overweight teen in the uncompromising indie "Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push' by Sapphire." Her character is a menacing figure through most of the story until she finally breaks down in a heart-crushing confessional climax.
