Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Hurricane Ida weakened to a tropicalstorm after coming ashore today in eastern Nicaragua, where itis forecast to dump enough rain to spark life-threatening flashfloods and mudslides, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
Rain from Ida was drenching much of northern and easternNicaragua and may total as much as 25 inches (64 centimeters) inthe country and Honduras, the U.S. agency said. The storm rippedroofs and downed trees on Big Corn Island, a tourist resort offNicaragua’s coast.
