Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Co.’s Opel divisionemployees will demand a bigger role in company decisions nowthat the carmaker has dropped a plan to sell the Europeanmanufacturer, the unit’s top labor leader said.
Workers want GM to convert Adam Opel GmbH into a joint-stock company to increase their power, Klaus Franz, head ofOpel’s works council, said today at a rally at the division’sheadquarters in Ruesselsheim, Germany. A 10 percent stake forworkers proposed by Magna International Inc., the Canadianmanufacturer that tried to buy Opel, would be a “farce” underGM ownership, Franz said.
