ARCADIA, Calif. — Undefeated Zenyatta delivered a performance for the ages, emerging as the first female to win the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
The 5-year-old mare unleashed her patented late kick to run down Gio Ponti by one length in the 26th running of the Classic before 58,845 jubilant fans. Twice Over failed in his bid to add to Europe's record six winners in 14 Breeders' Cup races. He finished third.
