Doctors group's leader weighs in on health care debate

James Rohack is the president of the American Medical Association, which is meeting in Houston through Tuesday. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a cardiologist in Temple, Rohack has led efforts to lobby Congress to reform health care and announced Thursday the organization's qualified support of the House overhaul bill. He spoke with the Chronicle's Todd Ackerman last week about the AMA meeting and other hot health topics.
