G20 pledge to support economy until recovery firms

ST ANDREWS, Scotland, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Group of 20 financeministers and central bankers pledged on Saturday to preparestrategies to end emergency support for their economies, but tokeep the aid flowing until recovery was assured.

The world's biggest economies -- the European Union, theUnited States and Japan -- are either expected to or alreadyhave emerged from recession in the third quarter.

This has prompted a discussion on when to start cutting backon the trillions in public support pledged to cushion the worsteconomic downturn since World War Two to maintain credibility offiscal policies with markets and consumers.
