Two metro Detroit high school bands took top honors in their categories at the Michigan Competing Band Association's state finals at Ford Field on Saturday.
The Ferndale High School Golden Eagle Marching Band, right, won first place overall in the Flight III schools category and also won for best marching band, beating out nine other high school bands from around the state.
In the Flight I category, Plymouth-Canton Marching Band took the top honors.
