Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- A suicide car bomber struck in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing 11 people, including a local mayor, authorities said.
At least 36 others were injured in the attack in the outskirts of Peshawar, said Shahibzada Anis Khan, district coordination officer. About 10 kilograms (22 lbs) of explosives were used, Khan said.
Matni-area Mayor Abdul Malik was the target, Khan said. He was standing outside his home when a car pulled up and blew up.
